Here’s a round up of some UTP highlights for the month of October.

Jennifer DiDomenico attended the Strategic Management Conference in Atlanta, September 26–October 1, followed by on-campus meetings at Georgia State, Georgia Tech and Emory University.

Douglas Hildebrand and Liz Glenn attended the Society for American City & Regional Planning History conference in Toronto, October 3–6.

Richard Ratzlaff attended the Ger­man Studies Association meeting in Denver, October 3–6.

Brian MacDonald and Lisa Jemison attended the Frankfurt Book Fair, October 9–13; Lisa wrote a blog post about her first Frankfurt experience.

Institut d’histoire de l’Amérique française – Prix Lionel-Groulx was awarded to Bruce Curtis’s Ruling by Schooling in Quebec: Conquest to Liberal Governmentality – A Historical Sociology.

The American Association for the History of Nursing Lavina L. Dock Award was given to Moving Beyond Borders: A History of Black Caribbean Women in the Diaspora by Karen Flynn.

The Osgoode Society hosted a launch for Roy McMurtry’s Memoirs and Reflections at Osgoode Hall on October 30.

To launch Ernest Mathijs’ book John Fawcett’s Gin­ger Snaps, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and Rue Morgue Magazine co-hosted a special Halloween screening of John Fawcett’s Ginger Snaps at the Bell Lightbox in Toronto on October 31.

To celebrate the release of his book Fackenheim’s Jewish Philosophy, Michael Morgan hosted a panel discussion at the University of Toronto on October 21.

A standing-room-only crowd turned out for the launch of Gene Allen’s Making National News: A History of Canadian Press at Ben McNally Books on October 22.
